On January 4 this year, the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration and other departments jointly issued the "Implementation Opinions on Strengthening the Integration and Interaction of New Energy Vehicles and the Power Grid", which is of great significance to support the large-scale development of the new energy vehicle industry and the construction of new energy systems and new power systems. Among them, "vehicle-grid interaction" has quickly become a hot word in the development of new energy vehicles this year. According to the forecast of "China Science and Technology Information", the V2G market space will be approximately 33.3 billion yuan in 2025 and will reach 105.2 billion yuan by 2030. In addition, the "Implementation Opinions on Strengthening the Integration and Interaction of New Energy Vehicles and Power Grids" jointly issued by the National Development and Reform Commission, the National Energy Administration, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and the State Administration for Market Regulation also released some positive signals, and the future is promising.

01、What is V2G charging
V2G technology, the abbreviation of Vehicle-to-Grid (Vehicle to Grid), is an in-depth application of vehicle-grid interaction. It refers to using electric vehicles as "energy storage" facilities. Through charging and discharging piles, they can be charged during low load periods and discharged to the grid during peak load periods.

Through the application of V2G technology, electric vehicles can charge and store excess energy when the grid load is low and the electricity price is low; and when the grid load is high and the electricity price is high, the vehicles can discharge energy to the grid to realize energy feedback.


This technology makes full use of the energy storage capacity of electric vehicles, turning them into "energy storage stations" for the power grid, effectively alleviating the contradiction between supply and demand in the power grid and improving energy utilization efficiency. This technology not only provides strong support for the stable operation of the power grid, but also brings tangible benefits to electric vehicle owners through the "peak and valley arbitrage" model.

The so-called two-way charging pile can work in both directions, charging and discharging. When charging, the alternating current from the grid is converted into direct current that can be accepted by the electric vehicle power battery or energy storage battery; when discharging, the DC power from the electric vehicle power battery or energy storage battery is converted into alternating current from the grid. The two-way charging pile is not only a charging and discharging device, but also an energy router. In home and community environments, it can realize energy transmission between various energy nodes such as vehicle batteries, energy storage batteries, power grids, and electrical equipment. In a system with two-way interaction between the car and the network, the two-way charging pile is the core of power regulation and energy flow, and is called an energy router. 03、The value of V2G charging piles
1. To the car owner
V2G can realize the interaction between electric vehicles and the power grid, allowing electric vehicles to absorb electric energy when the grid load is low and the electricity price is low; when the grid load is high and the electricity price is high, the electric energy is released, and the electric energy in the electric vehicle is sold to the grid, and the owner can earn the price difference. Taking an electric car with a charge of 100kWh as an example, if the owner sells 50kWh of the electricity to the grid, based on the electricity price of 1 yuan/kWh during peak hours and 0.3 yuan/kWh during off-peak hours in a certain area, the owner will make a profit of 35 yuan each time.

2. To the power grid
For the power grid, V2G can not only reduce the power consumption pressure caused by the massive development of electric vehicles, but also use electric vehicles as energy storage devices to regulate loads, improve the operating efficiency and reliability of the power grid, and reduce the power grid's investment in energy storage construction.

3. To car companies
For car companies, V2G technology allows users to effectively reduce the cost of using electric vehicles. In emergencies, V2G technology can also be used to use electric vehicles with power output functions as emergency power sources, which virtually increases the use of electric vehicles and thus promotes the production and sales of electric vehicles. The state issued a document proposing to build a unified power market, providing guidance for the development of V2G. In April 2022, the "Opinions on Accelerating the Construction of a National Unified Market" issued by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council pointed out that the energy and ecological environment market should be integrated into the factor and resource market, and proposed reform measures such as "combine the goal of achieving carbon peak and carbon neutrality, and orderly promote the construction of the national energy market" and "improve the multi-level unified power market system".
